Released in 2005, Hypnotize is the fifth studio album by the Armenian-American heavy metal band System Of A Down
In this album, System of A Down flaunts an underexplored sensitive side, offsetting their trademark stampeding riffs with flashes of delicate lyricism. Clocking a 40-minute run time, the album focuses on an array of themes such as war, the criminal justice system in America, suicide, drugs, and depression.
This album is the companion work to the band’s previous album Mezmerize which was released 6 months before Hypnotize. Hypnotize would also be the band’s last release until 15 years later after a long hiatus.
